In the world of fiction, we’ve come across various books throughout history that have completely changed how we consume content. These stories are more than just tales, but literal worlds that have given people a chance to escape, ponder and derive inspiration.

One particular read has been creating a lot of hype, transcending the conventional norms of urban fantasy yet remaining authentic in terms of its delivery. A read that contains larger-than-life characters, exhilarating drama, and a narrative that will leave you on the edge of your seat till the last turn of the page.

The story kicks off before Genesis when a secret experiment is conduct in Heaven. One that merged a reptilian humanoid’s DNA with an angel’s celestial chemistry.

With the experiment gone sideways, the fate of Vatican City will depend on a young angel named Darr, a pistol-packing pope with dirty consciousness and a few ragtag cardinals with baggage of their own. United under the banner of righteousness, they will have to battle a host of mystical creatures and seal off an ancient gateway if they wish to prevent the newly escaped nemesis from cloning a hybrid army capable of biblical destruction.

Author Keith A. Thomas Jr. presents Sacrificial Lambs, a treat for fans of urban fantasy, dark fantasy, horror, and religious novels.

Keith does a remarkable job encapsulating the unique relationship between God and his angels as well as man. His novel tests ordinary men when they are put up against an evil supernatural entity.

The question is, how did the author get the inspiration to write such an ambitious novel?

Keith A. Thomas Jr. quotes:

“I began my research of my novel with St. Peter’s Basilica. I read that the emperor Nero would hold his circus there, so I knew that could create a fictional gateway for the evil nemesis to escape through.”

Keith began his writing career at 18 when he entered a local playwriter’s competition in Baltimore with a play called A Lifetime of Changes. From there, he commenced his writing journey through short stories like Crossbones, which he would enter in various competitions for prize money. With his eyes set on grander things, he wrote a screenplay entitled The Final Confrontations, which he later adapted into his masterpiece, Sacrificial Lambs.

The book is fill with emotion, tension, and a plight that will have readers immersed. Keith’s experience in playwriting exudes through the pages as he manages to transfix audiences with his impeccable dialogue and settings.

Moreover, the novel is worth reading because it asks the question:

“What would the Pope of Rome and his cardinals do if the Kingdom of Heaven really called upon them for their services?”

Although the novel has a religious undertone at times, the author does an excellent job blending the dark fantasy and supernatural genres.

Sacrificial Lambs is the perfect read for anyone who is looking to delve into the urban fantasy/dark fantasy genre or is an avid consumer of such novels.
