The FDCI Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour has been a leader in Indian fashion for over sixteen years. It is known for its innovative spirit, patronage, and style, which celebrates India. The legacy of this prestigious event expanded in 2022 with a new theme of “Pride & Authenticity,” keeping sustainability, inclusion, and cultural diversity at its core.
Celebrating Heritage with Modern Flair in Kolkata
Chapter One of the tour, the Kolkata leg, highlights “Pride in Bringing Twists in Traditions.” The duo Shantnu and Nikhil collaborated with Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India’s Women’s Cricket Team. The collection combined the aesthetics and silhouettes of sportswear with traditional Indian styles to blend pride that addressed one thing for many—national identity.
An ode to Indians’ love for cricket, the contemporary Indian-wear line demonstrated how traditional outfits could be made more modern while retaining their identity. Mixing athletic cuts with local Indian craftsmanship, the designers have created a masterclass in what it means to be Made of Pride. The collection was an ode to the familiar yet forward approach of Indian wear by translating its essence into a contemporary silhouette. The Kolkata chapter truly embodied FDCI Blenders Pride by honoring the spirit of India’s sporting legacy through a couture lens.
Sustainable Fashion Takes Center Stage in Hyderabad
The tour also focused on Pride in Sustainable Fashion in Hyderabad. Designer Amit Aggarwal collaborated with acclaimed Architect Nuru Karim, one of the top architects in India, on a collection that was all about sustainability. The designer collected and created outfits from recycled materials that reflected nature, which is one of My Life My Pride’s core values while emphasizing the significance of sustainability in contemporary wear.
This design highlighted an innovative approach to sustainable material selection, with upcycled fabrics and eco-friendly textiles used in Aggarwal’s collection. In this chapter, FDCI Blenders Pride struck a chord with environmentally sensitive audiences, underlining FDCI Blenders Pride’s commitment to sustainability. It exemplifies how the brand and its partners can balance stylistic integrity with environmental responsibility.
Breaking Norms of Conventional Fashion
In collaboration with Dizy, India’s first female graffiti artist, designers Falguni Shane Peacock gave the collection a unique street-luxe twist: “Pride in Breaking Conventions of Fashion.” The collection meshed the vibrancy and boldness of Indian street art with high fashion to leave an indelible mark.
With this collaboration, Dizy brought a new dimension to the fashion tour by showcasing Indian street art culture, which resonates with the spirit of Made of Pride. It was a welcome break from what is typically seen in the classic fashion domain, which not only adhered to the term but also broadened its horizons with an urban touch amid FDCI Blenders Pride.
Celebration of Diversity
Gurugram hosted the finale leg of this tour, which focused on “Pride in Celebrating Diversity by Defying Labels.” Kunal Rawal showcased clothes that embraced diversity and inclusivity, resonating perfectly with the current narrative surrounding self-expression and acceptance.
The gender-neutral ensembles were donned and enabled freedom to express themselves through clothing. Hiscontemporary silhouettes and multifunctional designs transcended common design categories to align with My Life My Pride by interpreting fashion as art and a catalyst for social change. Rawal illustrated a fundamental ideal of inclusivity in fashion coupled with self-expression and identified cultural influences, resonating with FDCI Blenders Pride values of diversity.
FDCI Blenders Pride Showcase
Apart from all the important events, the FDCI Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour also hosted the Showcase. This segment focuses on finding and fostering new talents. The winners of The Showcase from the previous year returned to showcase collections based on ‘My Planet, My Pride,’ a theme tailored around sustainable and environmentally friendly fashion and built to inspire young and hopeful designers, models, photographers, and content creators to practice sustainability in their work.
The Showcase offered up-and-coming talent a national stage to showcase their work alongside some of the biggest names in design. This segment again restated the FDCI Blenders Pride in sustainable fashion from the grassroots level through eco-friendly practices.
The Gallery of Style: Where Creativity Meets Sustainability
Another highlight of the tour was The Style Gallery, entitled “This is not a T-shirt.” Curated by Ashish Soni and the FDCI, this installation displayed more than 60 designs of T-shirts, each a piece of art in itself. The sketches are interpretations of one of the themes —tradition, Sustainability, Breaking Norms, and Defying Labels—translated through sustainable fashion to bolster My Life, My Pride. The Style Gallery, built out of recycled materials, proved the sustainability promise behind the tour.
The History of Pride, Innovation and Authenticity
The FDCI Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour 2022 ended on a high note, leaving an imprint that will forever be etched on Indian fashion. It proved that Indian fashion can both embrace tradition and evolve. Whether a unique take on tradition, sustainability, or breaking the labels entirely, each theme embodied the Made of Pride ethos of the tour. FDCI Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour 2022 edition will go down in history as one that celebrates individuality, creativity, and the ever-evolving future of fashion where shapes are no longer rigid. It reinforced the idea of fashion as a vehicle for pride and authenticity that goes beyond the runway.
